Dear Reader and Jazz Guitar Lover,

 

Several years ago I was playing at the Central Station Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, six days a week.  One of the security guards there was a huge block of a fellow, whose very presense was frightening.  One day I was talking to him and he told me he was a bass player.  I could tell he had a longing to get into the music business, so I gave him a copy of my book, "How To Succeed In THE MUSIC BUSINESS, A career Manual for Musicians and Artists."  Well, the next day he didn't come to work.  He quit to pursue his dream.  I've never found what became of him, but wish him every success.  One person who read the book did leave a review at Amazon.com.  You can check it out at the link below.  The "Success Book" has been out of print now for several years, but we will be reissuing the original 1990 publication once again very soon.  Let me know if you'd like a copy.

How to Succeed in the Music Business

   THIS BOOK IS AWESOME AND SO HELPFUL!, February 11, 2004

I'm in the process of literally "STARTING OVER" in the biz from ground zero. And in my desperate search for all the basic info that i've obviously missed, I came across Steve Crowells book. I am so happy to have found it. It's definately a consice, quick read, it's easy, honest and simple. The info is plainly put with no promises, huff or puff. All the so called "how to" books talk about record deals etc. And the fact is that before we get to a record deal, "most of us" have to wade the bottom till such happens.

So hat's off to the author for writing the bare bones truth about the music game and for giving a guideline for where to start! I recommend this book for any singer or musician be it a newbie or a re-surfacing pro.. Great job Steve!
